About the Artist:
Gustave Léon Antoine Marie Popelin (1859-1937), was a French painter, draftsman and photographer. He was the son of enamel painter and poet Claudius Popelin (1825-1892).
Gustave Popelin studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris and also at the Villa Medicis in Rome. His preferred themes were portraits and historical subjects. [DES-02/16]
