Ever since the first slimy proto-pigs crawled from the fecund primordial ooze, the concept of mud as dirt or life essence has been debated.
In any discourse on dirt you’ll hear that dirt is just matter out of place, and that what each of us sees as dirt is an individual and intricately intertwined aspect of our culture.
Here it seems the wet, soft earthly matter on these two begrimed bodies is just as ‘in place’ on the mud masked woman as it is on the mud wallowing pig. And both seem to happily agree that a therapeutic mud bath or facial is not just a cultural necessity, but also the very stuff of life.
