The frolicking and the gentle creatures of the world, even unto the swine, are often blessed by the sun pouring warm attention and animal energy down upon them. And as their day declines, they rest weary but satisfied, with a day spent well and in exuberance.
Think about this next time the pork is savory and your appetite keen… Human flesh is generally reported by the cannibal to taste quite a bit like pork, so that means that the pork we enjoy so much tastes like we are eating humans.
You don’t expect to hear “bite me” from a pig, but frustrated with that part of Nature’s plan that says humankind will appreciate and eat our pals the pigs, “Que Sera, Sera” seems weightless. And yet, revenged somewhat, pigs competently remember what humankind discounts…Man has predators as well – disease, indulgence, each other and that one other pervasive and poignant thing that hunts us all…
We do not consider the complex relationship of pigs and humans with near the attention or scrutiny that we consider the doneness of our pork chops. Nor do we consider human-pig interaction with anything like the almost religious devotion we have when discussing barbeque techniques. Who is missing out in this inattention the most, the pigs or the humans?
