About the Artist
Dame Elisabeth Frink R.A. (1930-1993) was a British sculptor and print maker. Her work is distinguished by her commitment to naturalistic forms and themes.
Often, Frink’s sculpture, lithographs and etchings created as book illustrations, drew on archetypes expressing strength, struggle and aggression. In he animals Frink wanted to capture the spirit of the animal without over statement. She wanted to imply and suggest colour and movement rather than state it in a naturalistic way. [DES-01/11]
