About the Artist
Honoré Daumier, French, (1808-1879). Honoré Victorin Daumier was a French caricaturist, painter and sculptor who began his career as a graphic artist.
Daumier was especially renowned for satirical cartoons and drawings of 19th-century French politics and society. During the course of his life he produced over 4,000 lithographs of political and social comment.
