Ethel Mars, United States (1876-1959). works include: Cochon. Mars was a watercolorist, painter, and printmaker. She became an important influence in the avant garde art world of Paris in the early 20th Century and in Provincetown, MA durring WWI. Mars is known for her watercolors and for her avant-garde and belle epoque color woodblock prints that used a small number of number of carved blocks and produced fine fauve woodcuts that were extraordinary contributions to the modern color print.
