About the Artist
The actual artists who created these works are unknown. The printer/lithographer was Emile Levy the proprietor of the Affiches Francaises printing house. Levy’s shop provided numerous posters for the Parisian cafes, concerts, theatres, circuses and hippodromes.
It should be noted that Emile Levy (1826-1890) the French Academic painter is a different individual. And the clown Raffin remains elusive and to date I have found no other information on him. [DES-04/11]
