Sheridan, Lance

United States, (b. 1951)

Mr. Digby and his ten pigs

  1. Pigs love the dried mud drop
  2. Slowly, grunting
  3. On a grunt, up in the splattering rain drop, drops.
  4.
  5. A testament
  6. Prodigious in swallowing as they hog their want
  7. Made lean bacon
  8.
  9. In the kitchen slop and, stomaching no complaint,
  10. Proceeded to assail
  11. The seven troughed seas and every shallow depression.
  12.
  13. Old Mr. Digby kept pigs, ten little ones
  14. In his barnyard off Drury Terrace;
  15. Butchers oft made queries
  16. On hearing their neighbor’s pigs grunt,
  17. Saying: Something is hoggish in a farmer who accommodates
  18. That many squalors.
  19.
  20. Sun faced red as a pickled beet, his raspy voice
  21. Had long gone to seed, Mr. Digby
  22. For no good reason
  23. Plays host to chester, duroc, and increase,
  24. With table scraps and cabbage feasting the palates
  25. Of fastidious pigs.
  26.
  27. Mr. Digby and his ten pigs
